My Bicycle and I

June 19, 2014 1 comment

Today was a holiday in some parts of Germany and I am lucky to live in the right area. πŸ˜‰ So we decided to go on a bicycle tour around Frankfurt Airport in the morning. Here’s the result of our little trip. And I used this opportunity to get a new photo of myself in my “cycling outfit”. πŸ˜€

Update on my progress as a Weight Watcher

June 15, 2014 Leave a comment

On October 30 2013 I posted that I had lost a total of 19,9kg (43,9 lbs) in 5,5 months. It’s been 13 months since I became a Weight Watcher and I am still making progress. I lost 35,1kg (77,2 lbs) to date – ‘lost’ is actually the wrong word, it’s not like I want it back. I got rid of it, for good (hopefully)! πŸ˜‰
The best part about losing weight are the clothes and the compliments that come with them. My bank account wouldn’t agree with me though, because I’ve spent quite a fortune on shopping lately. But it feels so good to buy clothes you actually like and not go in the XXL section to find anything black that just covers the horrible truth.
I haven’t reached my goal weight yet and I’ll probably spent more money on clothes in the next months, but that is a price I am willing to pay.^^

Tzatziki

TzatzikiI love tzatziki! But tzatziki from the supermarket is usually pretty high in calories and fat. So there’s only one option if I want to enjoy it. Make it on my own! And that’s when my dear friends’ (Hi DΓΆrte! πŸ˜‰ ) recipe comes into play.

ingredients: 500g low fat curd cheese, 500g low fat plain yogurt, 2 cucumbers, an onion, 2 gloves of garlic, salt and pepper

directions:
1. Cut the cucumbers in half and use a spoon to scoop the seeds. Roughly grate the cucumber. Leave it in a sieve and add salt to drain the water.
2. Chop or grate the onion.
3. Mix curd cheese and yogurt in a bowl.
4. Peel off the skin of the garlic cloves, place them in a garlic press and squeeze it closed.
5. Add the garlic, onion, salt and pepper to the yogurt.
6. Add the drained cucumber to the yogurt and season to taste.
7. Serve cold.

I eat tzatziki with potatoes or use it as a dip for baby carrots. πŸ™‚

Homemade Jam

June 12, 2014 Leave a comment

Homemade Strawberry, Blueberry & Plum JamWhen I saw those cute jam jars in an advertising brochure of a local supermarket I just had to go there and get them! l bought all the other things I needed to make my own jam aswell and got to work. I admit that I am lazy at times, well who isn’t? I didn’t want to waste time on cleaning and cutting fruits, that’s why I used frozen ones.^^ For those of you who know about jam making this won’t be news now. There are different kinds of jam sugar you can use. I decided to use the jam sugar with a 3 to 1 ratio, which means 3 parts of fruits and one part of jam sugar. I pureed the fruits, added the jam sugar and brought it to a boil. I let it cook for 4 minutes while stirring it (followed instructions of the jam sugar wrapping) filled it into the jam jars and closed them.

Wow it’s been a while since my last post. Here’s an easy and quick salad.

Salad

ingredients: lollo rosso lettuce, red bell pepper, tomato, cucumber, pink lady (apple), sunflower oil, white balsamic vinegar, salt, pepper and chives
note: I used the oil and white balsamic vinegar in a 1 to 2 ratio.
